Gibson SG Junior Cherry 2005

Gibson SG Junior, cherry gloss, made in USA 2005. The SG Junior launched in 1961 as a trimmed down student model, although this model references the 1966 'batwing guard' version. It's a simple recipe: one pickup, mahogany body and neck, wraparound bridge... everything you really need, nothing you don't. It feels good in the hands, with a beefy neck that's nice and sturdy and plenty of unplugged volume. The pickup delivers the goods: searing high end clarity, plenty of wallop down low, and that glorious open breathy midrange we all love from a P-90. The finish has a few knocks and marks, but it looks all the more stage ready for not being too pristine. This is very enjoyable, life is grand.
