Gibson SG Standard Ebony 2007
Gibson SG Standard, black, made in USA 2007. Change my mind: black is the best colour for an SG. This slick sweetheart has sung some songs, so the black has a few scrapes and scuffs, but sure is looking super sweet. At a whisker under 3kg and sporting a slim 60s style neck, this is a fast and easy player too. It's nicely balanced, naturally resonant and holds tune nicely. A previous owner ditched the 490s and installed some Gibson Classic '57 humbuckers: yes yes yes. They're great pickups, with an articulate, smooth treble, open and complex mids and an understated, tuneful bass with a fast fundamental note attack. You can still dial those doomy dirge distorted tones, but it also does other fun tricks like cleaning up beautifully and translating big open chords in shimmering detail. Not every SG we get through plays this smoothly or sounds this good. Black is the new black.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has dimples and scuffs on the end and edges, minor dimples on the back and some scuffs around the posts on the front. The is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples and some rub wear on the back only. The back has scuffs around the front strap pin, on both horns, in the middle and along the back and bottom edges, as well as dimples in the elbow area and belly carve areas and around the control cavity. The sides have minor dimples and scuffs around the whole body. The front has scuffs around the knobs and bridge, dimples along the back edge, near the jack and in the elbow area and some play wear and scuffs on the guard and horns.
Overall: very good condition (7.5/10)
Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
Fret Life: 8/10, minor wear only
