Greco Mint Collection SS-600 White 1990
Greco SS-600, white, made in Japan 1990. Sure, a red SG looks cool, but a creamy white one? Pure pizzazz, pals. This slick creamy dream dates to the early 90s and was part of Greco's excellent Mint Collection series, as denoted by the recognisable 'broken O' logo. It's a very fun take on the classic 1961 SG, so you get the cool trap inlays, half guard cut, bound fretboard and a pair of covered humbuckers. The pickups are awesome: overwound PAF style, with a huge midrange kick, fat juicy lows and a warm, open top end. It's bright and balanced enough to clean up nicely, but it's so much fun to play dirty you'll probably never bother. The neck is straight, sturdy and moderately shaped; it's in great order with excellent fretwork and never makes you work too hard. This is basically the same buckos than a new 60s reissue Epiphone, and I'd wager it's better. Way, way, way better.
