(SOLD) Gretsch 6122 Country Classic II Walnut 1993
Gretsch 6122 Country Classic II, walnut stain, made in Japan 1993. This is gorgeous, what a delight. The Country Classic is the 90s era version of the Country Gentleman, originally a Chet Atkins signature model, but he'd switched to Gibson at that time so they had to change the name. The idea was to take the classic 6120 Nashville, slim down the body and neck a little, painted up in a lush walnut finish and adorned with gold hardware for good measure. It's a great recipe, the thing feels and sounds unreal. The body is notably thicker than a 335, but still feels nice and comfy, and that ebony board feels and looks luxurious. The tone is very responsive: warm and gooey to a light touch, but with plenty of grit and snap available if you dig in hard. The neck pickup is dark and warm but with a piano-like clarity, while the bridge pickup is snarly and smooth and amazing with a bit of overdrive. This is so nice. If you can't enjoy yourself playing this, maybe take up a new hobby, like flying fancy kites or something.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has minor scuffs on the end, a small dent on the back on the bass side edge between the D and G tuners and minor scuffs on the front. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples and rub wear on the back only. The back has some surface scratches near the neck join and bottom horn, minor dimples on the top horn and some scuffs in the elbow area, back edge and bottom corner. The sides have scuffs around the front strap pin, scuffs in the elbow area, minor dents and scuffs near the jack and minor scuffs on the bottom horn. The front has some dimples around the switch and the master volume control, some scuffs in the elbow area, around the tailpiece and near the knobs and some play wear on the guard and horns.
Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 11/49 Rotosound oure nickel strings.
Fret life: 9/10, minor wear only
