Kapa Continental Yellow 1966
Kapa Continental, yellow, made in USA 1966. Kapa Guitars was started by USA-based Dutch immigrant Koob Veneman, who ran a music store in Maryland USA. Koob was importing a lot of guitars from Europe, so when he couldn't nail down a Fender dealership, he began a quest to make his own solid body electric guitars in Maryland, using his Euro connections to supply tuners and pickups etc. It's a very playable guitar, with a lightweight body and a slim, fast neck. The frets are in good order despite the age, and all the electronics are still cooperating. The finish is amazing: proper 60s gloss nitro, sporting a comprehensive collection of checking lines and minor rub wear. The pickups are staple style, made by Hofner in Germany, and they sounds great: clear and balanced with a nice percussive growl. This guitar also spent some time with notable Australian acts The Cruel Sea and Do-Re-Mi, which is cool. Cute as hell.
