Paul Reed Smith Custom 22 Ten Top Cherry Sunburst 2007
PRS Custom 22 Ten Top, cherry sunburst, made in USA 2007. What a gorgeous top! Paul's stuff is always beautifully executed, and this is a prime example. The Custom 22 model has twenty two frets and a fixed wrap-around bridge, so it's a little simpler than it's 24 cousin. The sound is awesome: clear, balanced, even, full. The neck pickup on. the 22 is slightly closer to the neck than on a 24, so that adds a whisker of fat fullness on neck position, which contrasts beautifully against the chiming creamy slice of the bridge pickup. I'm not usually a big one for flame tops of cherry burst, but I'll pay this one: that's a truly excellent thick slab of super tight flame maple, and the warm glow of the burst looks beautiful. As you'd expect, this is lightweight, responsive and impressively even all way up and down the neck; it's a fine piece of craftsmanship.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has dimples on the end, scuffs on the edges and front around the posts. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples and rub wear on the back only. The back has surface scratches on the top horn, belly carve and middle of the body and some scuffs in the elbow area, back edge and around the control cavity . The sides have minor scuffs in the elbow area, near the jack and on the bottom horn. The front has a dent behind the bridge, minor dimples along the back edge and some play wear on the horns.
Overall: excellent condition (8.5/10)
Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 10/46 strings.
Fret Life: 9/10, minor wear only
