Peavey Vandenberg Series One Blue 1988

Peavey Vandenberg, navy blue, made in USA 1988. This is the signature model for Dutch-born  Whitesnake guitar legend Adrian "Adje" Vandenberg. Adrian was a huge deal in the late 80s and early 90s, joining the band after early success with his own project Vandenberg. We think of Peavey as an amp maker these days, but in the 80s/90s, models like the T-60 and Steve Cropper signature were doing pretty well and built with admirable attention to detail. Here we have an HS Superstrat, but with a difference: slightly offset body, gnarly cuts along the edges, reverse headstock with the fetching three-step peak and angled pickups. The headline is the neck: twenty four frets, ebony board, super quick shred-D shape and a Gibson-style 24.75" scale length, which is unusual in this genre. It feels fantastic in the hands: super fast and even and very stable. This example is a low-serial, first year guitar, although it's had a couple of mods including new pickups. The Kahler 2700 tremolo is cool, it's nice and stable and works great. These are a fan favourite for good reason: shred cred never goes to bed.
