Twenty Cent Guitar Co Blackwood Singlecut, made in Australia 2025, natural satin. 20c is the project of local Hobart guitar maker Tim Caldwell, combining some native Australian tonewood with twists on some classic shapes. This one references the classic LP, but it's got a secret weapon: nine ply, basically unbreakable neck. The body is capped with a gorgeous piece of Tassie blackwood, with lots of tasty details in the grain that pop nicely against the gold hardware. The neck is pretty fat, similar to a '58 style Gibson shape, but it's a nice round shape and feels familiar pretty quickly. The tone is tasty: dark and warm on the neck, lots of midrange kick on the bridge. If you're after something that's classic, but a bit quirky, this is cool.
