Vox SSC-33 Vintage Cream 2010

Vox SSC-33, butterscotch, made in Indonesia 2010. It's pretty funky, is it not? Vox guitars enjoyed a reboot in the mid-00s, marrying some kooky 60s style shapes and styles with the engineering panache of their Yamaha and Korg overlords. It's a good recipe: this is well designed. From a woodwork and finish angle, it's also very tidy: resonant, smooth to play, lightweight and well balanced; it's very good. The pickups were designed by Eric Kirkland, with a pair of coils in each, one for output and one to kill the hum, and two sets of magnets: a P-90 style set and some blade humbucker jobs on the outside. You can toggle between the two sets of sounds with the northern switch, while the southern switch is a standard three way job. You can get LP, Tele and Junior style sounds all from one guitar, and they're all pretty convincing. Heaps of ideas on tap and heaps of guitar for the cashola.
