Duncan made amps!? Who knew. The 84-40 was made for a couple of years from 1989-91 or so, and it's a really tasty little tube combo. It's driven by four EL84 valves, like a Vox AC30, but the tone is closer to a Fender style than a Vox. It's got a big, thick, fat, clean tone, and the 2x10" speaker setup adds a whole heap of low end presence and punch. There's push/pull switches on the gain knobs for a boost, so you can dial in big smooth legato lead tones with no shortage of gain too. The reverb gets pretty wild past 12'o'clock, but it's nicely voiced. This is light enough to be an easy gigging machine and absolutely loud enough to be a great pedal platform. Well done Seymour, you did great.
