AnalogMan Peppermint Fuzz Germanium Fuzz Pedal #996 2012
Vintage 1960s fuzz tones using high gain germanium transistors, but without the temperature instability. This pedal sounds its best run off a cheap non-alkaline 9v battery, allegedly lasting years on account of having no LED, the main source of battery drain. True bypass preserves tone and battery auto-disconnect when unplugged increases battery life. Controls include volume, fuzz, and buzz. The fuzz knob moves from fuzz face tones to truly wild sounds. The unlabelled "BUZZ" knob in the centre adjusts the hardness of the fuzz effect, from a weak stuttering fuzz to a really hard edged saw tone. Higher or lower temps may affect where this needs to sit. There's an internal bias that allows for best operation (instructions in box). Allegedly you can pull off sitar-style tones by maxing the fuzz, buzz to taste then bring the guitar volume down to the point where it loses sustain. The little info slip even includes some gibberish written in the Wingdings font. Pepperminty as ever, Mike.
