(SOLD) Bacchus Craft Series BJM-60E All Maho Sunburst 2018
Bacchus BJM-60E All Maho, sunburst, made in Japan 2018. This is a terrific guitar. Bacchus launched in the 1990s under the direction of master luthier Yasuo Momose, who trained all the luthiers in their workshop and championed a slower, more traditional truly handmade approach to building instruments. This is a recent model and a great take on the vintage style Jazzmaster genre. Bacchus' usual JM-style offering is made of alder, with some options in ash, but this one is all mahogany, both body and neck. It's got the hallmarks of the Jazzmaster sound: it's eloquent and breathy with excellent articulation and detail. The combination of the slightly hotter pickups and the mahogany body and neck mean you get a thicker, more pronounced low end and midrange, adding a bit of balance and warmth. It's a very satisfying sound indeed, there's some much complexity and nuance under a light touch, but it growls and snaps with the best of them if you dig in. As with all Bacchus stuff, the wood selection and craftsmanship is exceptional, so you can feel the integrity and natural resonance straight away in the hands. The finish is solid in the middle, a 'clownburst' style sunburst, which I reckon looks great, especially with the dark and mysterious shade of the headstock. Sure, you could buy a Fender for similar cash. I'll be in the back with my fellow Bacchus-enthusiasts laughing at that idea... come hang.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some minor dimples on the end. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has some light scuffs on the elbow area and bottom corner, nothing nasty. The sides have no major marks. The front has some light scuffs in the elbow area and around the tailpiece, plus some marks from play on the guard and horns. Overall: excellent condition (9/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets look great, 9/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings.
