Bacchus G-Studio, US blonde, made in Japan 2003. Holy heck, this is quite the machine. Bacchus Handmade guitars have long enjoyed a reputation for exceptional build quality. They're made completely by hand by a small team in the Japanese Alps famous for notoriously picky wood selection; nothing but the absolute best pieces of timber are used, plus the workmanship is second to none. As such, this will easily match it with Fender Custom Shop or PRS Core stuff in terms of feel... it has that certain integrity in the hands that's hard to put into words. The neck is a glorious piece of tightly grained maple, carved to a chunky C shape with a modern style 11" radius, and in a classy touch, the edges are lightly rolled between frets, so the fretboard shows a series of crescent-shaped softenings along both edges. The trem has been replaced with a Wilkinson VS100 two-point trem, which you can absolutely mash and bend down a whole octave and it'll happily spring back to perfectly in tune... what sorcery is this!? This left the factory with a different guard and an HSS pickup setup, and it arrived with a set of cheapy generic single coils. We've replaced the pickups with a gorgeous set of Klein Epic Series '65 single coils, which feature true vintage style alnico-5 magnets and 42ga plain enamel wire and sound magnificent. There's a giant weighty punch to the attack, but with a sparkly, open top end and a remarkably clear, singing midrange. Position two and four offer a pronounced quack, while the neck pickup is all smoothness and fire. We replaced the wiring harness too. We included a push/pull on the second tone knob to add the neck pickup in any position, the classic 'Gilmour switching' mod that allows for Tele style bridge-and-neck tones as well as all three pickups going all out. The blonde finish shows off the gorgeous ash grain proudly, it's got a nitro topcoat and exudes class. If you can't tell, I really like this... buy it before I change my mind and claim it for myself!
