(SOLD) Burny LSD-55N Emerald Green 2009
Burny LSD-55N, emerald green, made in China 2009. Here's a fun one! This is a fairly recent model from Burny, the division of Japanese guitar giants Fernandes that's been offering Gibson-inspired models for several decades now. The serial suggests a 2009 birthday. Now, what makes this different? Two things: first, the unusual emerald green finish, and second, the 40mm thinline body depth. A standard LP style guitar is usually around 55mm deep at the thickest point, whereas this is a good 15mm skinnier, similar to some of Epiphone's Studio models and not so different to an SG. That contributes to a snappy, percussive tone. It sounds about halfway between the regular singing hi-fi creamy voice of an LP and the barky, assertive punch of an SG. It's awesome for skate punk or classic rock stuff, it's got so much personality. The skinny body also makes it lightweight and super comfy to play, helped along by the very agreeable slim sixties style set neck... dang, it's a bit too easy in the hands. The rich green hue is a real eye-catcher in the flesh, it's a gorgeous hue and rewards viewing the grain of the flame maple cap from several angles. If a lightweight rich green LP sounds good to you, don't wait for the next one... it might be a while!

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some minor chips on the end and scuffs on the back. It doesn't have a repaired break in the normal place behind the nut, but there's a repaired crack running down the treble side of the headstock approx 15mm from the edge underneath the machine heads, and you can see a few patches of dry glue the repair. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has a decent dent near the back edge near the rear strap pin as well as widespread light scuffs and dimples around the body. The sides have minor scuffs around the whole body as well as some small chips near the jack and on both horns. The front has a couple of dents up from the bridge, near the knobs, on the back edge near the rear strap pin and along the top edge up from the bridge pickup, as well as some standard play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: good condition (7/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, both truss rods work. The frets have minor wear only, 8/10 for fret life left. Electronics all tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 45/105 Moonshiners strings.
