Fender ST62-70 Strat, made in Japan circa 1989, finished in hot Barbie pink. This guitar landed in quite a sorry state: hardware all rusted and barely usable, dodgy wiring, extremely worn frets, and with no finish on the body. A previous owner ever carved some random stuff into the back; it had 'The Beatles' and 'Fender' etched into the wood. Never fear, we're here. First, the body and neck went to visit our friend Ed at Wellwood Guitars, who's done a bunch of fun refinish work for us previously. He gave the neck a freshen up with some fresh clear coat to smooth over all the marks and wear, and then painted up the body in gloriously gaudy Barbie pink. It's a proper rude colour and looking very crisp under some thin gloss poly on the top... nice one Ed, all those mornings watching the Dreamhouse are paying off! Next it was time to visit our trusty store tech Mark, and he got down to business: first, the neck got brand new frets and a matching new bone nut. Next, he added a new guard with a full re-wire with top notch CTS pots, an orange drop cap, vintage cloth wire and Switchcraft jack, as well as a handy push/pull control to add the neck pickup back in. It was also blessed with a crisp new Gotoh bridge and locking tuners, all in black, as well as some black strap pins and jack plate. Need I even say it? It looks incredible now. It plays brilliantly now: those new frets feel great, and the slim vintage C shaped neck is very comfy. The pickups were always good, but the new wiring brings out their best: chiming sparkle up top, punchy fatness down low, creamy complexity and snarl through the mids... it's very enjoyable indeed. If this was meant to be a cheap and quick fix-and-flip to make a buck, I've definitely failed here... all that work and parts cost a small fortune. But, it's a great tale of redemption and a totally kick-ass guitar now, and that's hopefully reward enough."You wanna go for a ride?"

The body is freshly refinished, but there's a couple of remnants of original dents on the back in the elbow area and minor scuffs behind the bridge.
Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 10/46 strings.
Fret life: 10/10, they're brand new frets
