(SOLD) Fender Japan '62 Telecaster TL62B Bound Ice Blue Metallic 2013
Fender '62 Tele, bound ice blue metallic, made in Japan 2013, with mods. This is surely a very delightful item. Of all the Fender Japan Telecaster models, the double bound '62 style has got to be the one we get requests for the most often. It's not hard to see why: just look at those slick lines! The cream binding really makes the slick rosewood board and ice blue finish pop. You see this model most often in red or sunburst; the charming 60s coastal cool of ice blue is certainly a tasty treat for the eyes. This one, to state the obvious, has had some mods. The standard single coil bridge pickup has been removed and replaced with a Dimarzio PAF-style humbucker; this necessitated some routing and a new bridge and plate, although the previous owner didn't stop there, also adding a coil-split switch, a bone nut and a set of deluxe locking tuners. The results are exceptional: this sounds brilliant. The bridge pickup offers a warm growl in HB mode or a classic twang in single coil mode; the middle position works especially well. The slim, round neck will win many friends; it's instantly familiar and effortless to play. All in all, this is surely a very sassy Tele indeed.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock and neck pretty clean. Back has a patch of scuffing down from the ferrules, it's otherwise pretty clean with minor dimples only. The sides are also good: a couple of minor dimples on the shoulder and near the jack, that's basically all. The front looks great, just some minor dimples near the knobs and some very light play scratches on the the guard and top horn. Overall: very good condition (8.5/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. The frets are in good condition, 8/10 for life left. Setup with fresh 10/46s.
