Fender VSP '62 Telecaster, sunburst, made in Japan 2014. Dang, this is nice. The 'Vintage Special Project' models were made for a few years from 2010; they were the top-of-the-line offerings from Fender Japan at the time and sold for around double the price of an equivalent regular model. As such, this is blessed with some mighty fine specs: premium two piece centre joined alder body, nitro topcoat finish, fancy alnico custom pickups, CTS pots and vintage cloth wiring and in this case, an absolutely stunning Madagascar rosewood slab fretboard. It's a lovely piece of rosewood: rich red-brown with black streaks and a very consistent feel under the fingers; it looks spectacular up close. The neck is a comfy vintage C shape, which sits nicely in the hands without demanding much, and the gloss nitro has a pleasing feel to the touch. The subtle parallel lines in the alder body are on show under the classy burst finish, which is lifted to new visual levels by the double body binding. It really does look as classy as a freshly tailored designer tuxedo. So, as noted above: dang, this is nice.

The front has some dimples on the top horn, elbow area and near the jack, as well as some scuffs on the bottom horn. The front has some scuffs around the bridge, on the back edge near the controls and near the rear strap pin, as well as some dimples in the elbow area and some play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: very good condition (8/10)
