(SOLD) Fender Japan '66 Mustang MG66-65 Candy Apple Red 1996
Fender '66 Mustang, candy apple red, made in Japan 1996. The 1969 reissue Mustang models from Japan are fairly common, but this '66 model has some slightly different cosmetic touches: white button tuners, plain headstock with the cool mid-sixties gold decal, and no belly carve in the body. Subtle stuff, but it certainly has a cool aesthetic. The classic Mustang combo of a short scale, skinny neck, cheeky trem and the comfy small size offset body makes for a superbly easy playing experience. Tonally, there's plenty to like: there's a big thick punchy attack, with a naturally short sustain and plenty of snap and quack on the top end. It's a sound suited to snappy rhythm parts and snarky riffs, so it's great for punk, garage or grungy stuff. Heaps of fun!

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some marks on the end and bottom edge. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has a decent bunch of dimples on the top horn, elbow area and back edge, as well as widespread light scuffs. The sides have some light scuffs on the bottom horn, a decent dent and some dimples near the jack, and some dimples and scuffs on the elbow area and top horn. The front has a dent near the input jack dimples behind the bridge and on the back edge, as well as some standard play scuffs on the guard and horns. Overall: good condition (7/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. The frets have minor wear but are pretty even with no major buzz issues, 7/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings.
