Gibson Firebird III Non-Reverse, sunburst, made in USA 2012. The Firebird is surely Gibson's coolest shape, they're supremely sleek and cosmically cool. This is a pretty unusual example: the FBiii model with the quirky non-reverse body comes up approximately once every five years around these parts it seems. This one suffered an unfortunate headstock break in transit to the store, so we've had to call in reinforcements to get it scrubbed back up to ship shape. Our local pro luthier Paul Mineur did a super clever and brilliantly executed repair, so it's now stable, smooth in the hands and stronger than ever. Being a repaired example, it's priced accordingly: you're saving $1-2k from what I might have listed a mint example with original case at. The pickups are outstanding: original Gibson P-90s, each fitted with a push/pull switch to bring in a brighter, clearer second voice akin to a Tele or Strat. Combined with the five-way switch, there's around one million tonal options on offer. It does some stuff all the time: punchy attack, smooth tuneful bass, airy treble with a lovely snappy sweetness, creamy open mids. The burst finish looks very classy on the 60s-futuristic curves too, it's a treat. One only folks!
