Gibson Les Paul Studio Silverburst 2010
Gibson Les Paul Studio, made in USA 2010, silverburst finish. We've had a fair few LP Studios through the shop: they're a reliable, no-nonsense guitar and a handy entry into the world of USA Gibson guitars without cashing in a liver or kidney. But: this is absolutely the first we've ever had in silverburst, and my oh my, it looks very fetching indeed. The 2010-era Studio model had some sensible specs: chambered body with a nice subtle carved maple top, trap inlays, no binding and a slim 60s neck, all tied together with an ABR-1 bridge and a set of Grover kidney bean tuners. It's a practical combo in the hands: it holds tune, plays fast and doesn't ask too much of your poor old shoulders. The frets are in great shape and this is playing very smoothly indeed. The pickups are on the hot side of vintage, so they deliver plenty of low end oomph. The neck is fat and velvet-smooth, while the bridge is growly and bright with a pleasing creamy complexity. The silver has aged a little bit over the last fifteen years, so it's got a slight champagne gold tinge to it, which paired with the black plastics and chrome hardware looks incredible. At time of writing, this appears to be the only LP Studio in this finish available in the country and one of only a couple globally, so don't snooze if you're keen.
