Gibson SG Junior Cherry 2005
Gibson SG Junior, cherry, made in USA 2005.Here we have what may well be the coolest version of the SG Junior, the 1966-style model. You get a single P-90, wraparound bridge, a cool batwing guard and some fetching white button tuners... snazzy stuff. It's hard to pull a bad sound from a single pickup Gibson, and this is no exception: the thing just wants to go, and it sounds enormous. The P-90 delivers a barky midrange with heaps of attack and clarity, an expansive airy treble and an understated, fast tuneful bass. It's awesome for nasty riffs, big open chords, angular lead lines... the more attitude you hit it with, the better. The neck is on the chunky side, it's a fat D style shape that makes sense for the genre of guitar; it still seems to balance nicely against the lightweight body somehow too. The slightly play-worn cherry finish and streaky rosewood board make for a classic look too, it's very appealing. You can't go too wrong here, this is a no-nonsense party machine ready for a good time,
