Greco EG500, black, made in Japan 1978. Well, this is slick. 1975-85 is often referred to as the 'golden age' of Greco; this one hails from the middle of that famed period. The craftsmanship is bang-on: you can feel the love and care that's gone into the build of this, everything is in it's proper place. The U-1000 pickups are a well regarded PAF-style humbucker, they offer a sweet creamy midrange with a delightful articulate treble and an immediate, snappy dynamic attack. The black finish is showing some gentle wear; it's in good shape for it's four decades of stories and looks all the better for not being 'too pristine'. The neck is slim and sturdy, similar in profile to a Gibson 'slim 60s' offering; it's very easy to get along with. This is a great example of a 'lawsuit era' Les Paul, it's easy to understand why guitars of this calibre caused so much of a stir in their day. What a sweetie!

Back has some very small chips near the cavity cover and some widespread but very light buckle rash scratches. The sides have a few marks: some scuffs on the top horn, some scuffs and a pair of chips in the shoulder area, some chips and scuffs near the jack, and some light scuffs on the bottom horn. The front has some very light surface scratches spread around the whole body, as well as some checking below the tailpiece and a few dimples around the edges. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. Frets have some normal wear but they're not in need of immediate attention, 6.5/10 for life left. Setup with fresh 11/49s.
