(SOLD) Greco SV-600 Super View Wine Red 1979
Greco SV-600 semi-hollow, wine red, made in Japan 1979. I love this, it's such a great player and sounds so rich. The 'Super View' series was Greco's twist on the 335 body design, tweaked for the local Japanese market. As such, you get a slightly smaller body; 20mm or so smaller across the top than a 335 (similar in dimensions to an ES-339) and a very comfy slim, rounded three-piece maple neck, as well as the cool oversize headstock and some quirky original hardware. It's a great looking thing: the aged cherry finish and heavily yellowed binding lend it some vintage charm and the classic curves look all sorts of awesome. The tone is great too. It's very responsive to your hands, so it'll sing sweetly with a dark and mellow voice, or if you strum it with vigour it comes back with a snappy brightness that'll cut nicely through a mix. Being a late seventies, Fujigen-made Greco, this is a great example of just how good these 'golden era' Japanese Gibson-inspired guitars can be: it's a knockout.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some minor scuffs on the end and front, no major marks. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back. There's some discolouration and deterioration on the neck binding, although none of the binding is crumbling or breaking off. The back has widespread light scuffs but no major marks. The sides have some scuffs and marks from the elbow area around the back and past the knobs, as well as some discolouration and checking in the binding, nothing nasty. There's one little 1.5cm patch on the binding on the top horn near the neck pickup where the binding is a little crumbled. The front has a few dimples near the knobs, on the back edge and elbow area and some light scuffs behind the bridge, as well as some standard play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: very good condition (7/10).
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, intonation is good, action is low, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. The frets have minor wear only, 8/10 for fret life left. Setup with fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings.
