This is a seriously good amp! Hiwatt made some of the most iconic amps of the 60s and 70s and have an artist list including such luminaries as Dave Gilmour and Pete Townsend. This little (but hefty!) guy is basically the famed DR103 head, with the original Partridge designed transformers and a pair of EL34 valves, packed into a super sturdy 18mm baltic birch ply cabinet. The tone is ultra clean with heaps of headroom, brighter and thicker than a Fender style and a little more even in response than a Vox. The 'bright' inputs are perfect for humbuckers: heaps of punch and attack with a pristine, brutally honest treble. The 'normal' inputs dial back the chime a nudge and talk nicely to a single coil. This is one of those amps that brings out the absolute best in your guitar, down to the subtlest nuance, and takes pedals like an absolute champ. You'd pay 2-2.5 times this price for a new example, so do the right thing and adopt this charming little British Bulldog.
