(SOLD) Peavey T-60 Sunburst 1984
Peavey T-60, sunburst finish, made in USA 1984. The T-60 is a cult favourite; it's been described as the most underrated guitar of all time by it's enthusiasts. Upon it's release in 1978, it was the first production model guitar ever to be built on CNC router machines, as well as featuring some groundbreaking electronics. The tone knobs have a cool feature where from zero to seven they act like normal tone pots, but above seven they gradually split the humbucker to a single coil... innovative, and handy! The pickups deliver a brilliant clarity, attack and vibrance in either mode; plus the phase switch is handy to make sure you're getting the fullest tone possible into any setup. The big slab of northern ash weighs a fair bit, but tonally, it delivers a thick, warm, defined tone that lends the guitar a unique and addictive growl. The neck on this one seems a little more moderate than the famously 'whoa-that's-skinny' necks on the late 70s examples, it's a bit more intuitive in the hands. The sunburst finish looks amazing, it's got a rich red hue that makes a warm change from the more common natural finish. Most guitars are just takes on the 50s classics, but the T-60 really is a beast all of it's own. If you're after a guitar to bring some extra oomph and magic to your recordings, this is one of the best studio guitars around. Tip: these will still be a cult classic in another 30 years, but they'll fetch a lot more cash.

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. There's some little marks on the end and bottom and top edges of the headstock, and the truss rod cover is missing. There's a bit of play wear on the board and some mild dimples and scratches on the back of the neck, nothing disruptive in the hands. The back is pretty clean, just some widespread shallow and mild buckle rash. The sides have a couple of little chips and scuffs on the edges near the jack and directly opposite that on the top side. The front is pretty clean, just some play wear on the guard and top horn, plus a very minor ding on the top horn. Overall: very good condition (8/10).
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, intonation is good, action is low, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal wear but look pretty good, 7/10 for life left. Setup with fresh 10/46s.
