(ARCHIVE) Rotosound RFB1 Fuzz Reissue Pedal
- Description
- Guitarchives
Rotosound are an iconic string maker, but back in 1960s London, they were keen to capitalise on their growing visibility and enter the popular fuzz box game. They released two fuzzes, and this is a faithful reissue of the second of the two. It shares some design DNA with the Sola Sound Tonebender MkIII, and the original pedal wasn't selling very well until it turned up on French TV under the feet of Jimmy Page. The tone is gorgeous. It's not super high gain, but there's plenty to play with if you max the internal trim pot and max the fuzz control. It covers those Clapton-esque low gain fuzz sounds really well and plays nicely with a volume control. You can adjust the bias on an internal pot too, so if you're after a more gated sputtery vibe, it's on tap. This is proper fuzz-nerd grade stuff, I really like it.
