(SOLD) Sakai EG12 3/4 Size SG Style Sunburst c1965
Sakai EG12, sunburst, made in Japan around 1965. Well, at least I think that's what it is. Sakai guitars had a distinctive bar-style string tree like this one has, which was less common on other brands, so that's my educated guess. This is a cute little 3/4 size guitar, likely approximately based on the Gibson SG in shape. It's got a fun short scale neck, which a previous owner has done the mighty work of re-fretting with modern sensible size fretwire. The truss rod works and the neck is straight, so it plays pretty well and is a lot of fun to noodle around on. The goldfoil pickup sounds awesome: it's bright and snappy with a lovely full midrange and a plonky bass response. The tone knob is pretty powerful, you can dial a warm gooey tone with it rolled back or a sizzly, snarly growl with it on max. All up: heaps of fun.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some wear on the end and edges, plus the original brand decal has presumably been removed. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has widespread light scuffs and dimples, no major dimples. The sides have minor dimples and scuffs around the whole body as well as a couple of little chips near the jack. The front has a sticker fade mark near the bridge and in the elbow area, as well as widespread light scuffs and dimples. Overall: good condition (7/10).
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good. The frets look like they've been replaced with a more modern size wire at some point and they're in great shape, 8/10 for fret life left. All electronics tested and working properly.
