Squier SST33 Silver Series Strat, made in Japan in 1993/4 . The Silver Series heralded a return to Japanese manufacturing for Squier, and were very well received at the time owing to the excellent build quality from the legendary Fujigen factory. This one is blessed with a lovely dark chocolate rosewood board and a classic coat of black-on-black; a classy and understated combo. The slim, comfy neck has plenty of play on the clock, evidenced by the well-worn satin finish on the back, and it feels absolutely superb. Plugged in, you get a super punchy and immediate take on the classic Strat-spank. The neck pickup is dark and full, perfectly gooey with tone knob rolled back a whisker, while the bridge and middle offer a slicing, chiming snap with plenty of body and warmth to get it all sticking together nicely. This is a really cool little Strat, it's a great entry into the world of Fender Japan certainly delivers a whole lot of of tone and feel for minimal cash. Black in back, right?
