Squier SST33 Silver Series Strat, made in Japan in 1993-4, olympic white. The Silver Series heralded a return to Japanese manufacturing for Squier, and were very well received at the time owing to the excellent build quality from the legendary Fujigen factory. This is annoyingly good in the hands... it's way better than it should be for the dime. The neck is very well played, as you can see in the photos, and for good reason: it feels great. It's a slim modern-C style shape, finished in satin and superbly comfy in the hand. The neck pickup offers a full, rounded 'plonk', glistening with sweetness and clarity in the top end, balanced by a weighty bass response. The bridge and middle pickups offer heaps of attack and a grindy midrange, bringing out the detail in your notes and enjoying a dash of creamy drive. The white finish has yellowed and rubbed up to a creamy, well-worn look, which paired with the board and black guard looks awesome. There's a lot to like here, so nab yourself a tasty MIJ Squier for less than the price of many of their brand new offerings.
