(SOLD) Takamine PT-206 Dreadnought Acoustic/Electric Sunburst 1993
Takamine PT-206, made in Japan 1993, sunburst finish. Takamine have been making really lovely acoustics for many decades now, they're the quiet achievers of the guitar world really. This gorgeous creature dates to 1993, so it turns thirty next year. First up, holy smokes it's a pretty thing. A sunburst finish on an acoustic can be tricky to get right, but this stunning, pure and simple. Tak were the first company to include a factory pickup+preamp on steel string models, so this is blessed with their cool little Graph-Ex combo which offers a pretty natural, precise tone plugged in. The split-saddle bridge is another signature Tak-touch, offering great intonation further up the fretboard. Strumming some big chords, you get an expansive midrange and plenty of natural volume, with a lovely sweet and snappy top end lending the notes plenty of definition. The tone is in the ballpark of a Martin D-18, but with some added focus and precision in the high end. I expected to like this, but when I finally got it in my hands, I liked it even more than anticipated. Now, get back to looking at those pics!

Case: basic non-original vintage hard case
Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has a mark on the point on the end. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor rub wear from play only. The back has some minor scuffs near the front strap pin and middle of the body, no major marks. The sides have minor scuffs and a surface scratch on the top shoulder, scuffs in the elbow area, some dimples near the jack, plus a few minor dimples on the bottom bout. The front has a blacked out chip in the finish only on the bottom edge at around the widest point, some dimples on the elbow area, back edge and top shoulder, as well as some standard light play scuffs on the guard and surrounding area. Overall: very good condition (8/10).
Playing condition notes: action is moderately, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. Frets look nice and even and in pretty good shape, 8/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 12/54 Moonshiners strings.
