(SOLD) Used Fender-JPGW Stratocaster '57 Reissue Hand Rubbed Sunburst
Fender '57 reissue Strat, made in Japan 1993/4, with relic job and upgrades. This one is a collaboration between us, Topshelf Instruments, and Jon Parsons Guitar Workshop (see www.jp-gw.com). We got this guitar in a trade with a relic job done by the previous owner, which was done pretty nicely on the hardware and neck, but some extensive finish-wear inflicted on the original olympic white basswood body really wasn't looking too good. Jon at JPGW has upgraded her with a new 2-piece alder body with a stunning hand rubbed sunburst finish, as well as an upgraded electronics package including new pots, jack and cap. The results are amazing: it looks spectacular and sounds amazing! The guitar already had a nice chunky '57 style sanded maple neck, it's very comfortable and satisfying to play. The upgraded electronics really bring out the best in the factory pickups, it's got that perfect mix of spank, warmth and body. The new satin hand rubbed sunburst finish is already very eye-catching, and it's designed to wear quickly with play to match the rest of the look. Great gig bag included. Cosmetic condition notes: Deliberate relic finish wear. The neck has been sanded down on the back to a smooth lacquer-free finish and the fingerboard has some wear. The chrome parts have all been deliberately aged to a cool vintage look, they're all in perfect working order but feature a smoky look with a little corrosion. The guard is sitting flush, and the plastic parts all have natural discolouration from age. The satin body finish is brand new but very thin, so it'll wear quickly with some play to match the rest of the guitar. There's extra pics to give you a good idea of the detail of the condition. Overall: good relic condition.
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is very low, intonation is good. Frets have almost negligible wear, there's plenty of life in them. Recently been through a JPGW setup with 10/46 strings and playing with a whole lot of swagger.
