Greco 1978 LP, honeyburst. This tasty item is a very clean example of vintage MIJ LP goodness. The plain maple top is very pretty, and it's on full display under the sweet honeyburst finish; it's all class. As with many guitars this age, it's got some odd mods: the guard has been removed and the holes plugged, the jack has been replaced, and the switch-surround has been removed. None of them are big changes and they add a certain minimalist appeal. Feel-wise; it's all there. This is light and lively, and the neck is slim and perfectly cooperative. The PAF-style pickups are awesome; the tone is crunchy, articulate, warm and full... very satisfying. This was made before CNC routers hit Japan, so the body, neck etc are all 100% shaped by hand; you can feel the love that went into it. She's just had a fret-dress too. You could buy a new Epiphone out of China, or... you know the answer. This.

Model: Greco EG500 (best estimate based on finish and construction)
Made: Japan, 1978 (serial A787144)
Finish: honeyburst over plain maple
Body: mahogany, maple top, chambered
Neck: mahogany, rosewood board
Mods: guard removed, strap pics changed, jack and plate replaced
Pickups: original humbuckers, PAF style low-moderate output
Case: none

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. There's a couple of chips that have been patched in white on the the back of the neck, they feel fine but look odd. The top and back are fairly clean wit only minor scratches. Guard and switch surround missing, guard holes have been filled. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have just been dressed, so they're in great shape with plenty of life, 8/10.
