Maton EM225 acoustic/electric. This model (and it's equivalent cutaway cousin) were huge sellers for Maton for a very long time; they're an iconic and well loved Australian made guitar. The new street price was usually around $1300. The spruce top lends the guitar a bright, responsive, chiming cut, while the Queensland maple adds a strong bass and low-mid to the mix, giving the guitar a warm, controlled, slightly 'scooped' sound. The QLD maple back and sides have that distinctive Australian colouration. The matte finish wears a little more quickly than high-gloss, which lends the guitar a 'played' look, but it also lets the wood speak and contributes to the big, open sound.  The slim neck will feel familiar to an electric player, as will the tidy low action. Maton have long been famous for great pickups, the AP4 in this guitar is no exception: it's easy to get a pleasing sound through a system. This is an honest working player's guitar, it'll be a steady companion for many years to come.

Cosmetic condition notes: Light-moderate finish wear. The matte finish on these models tends to wear to gloss on the high-contact areas. The finish has worn around the top where your elbow/forearm sits, above the bridge where your hand sits if you're palm-muting, mildly on the back and around the sound hole. There's some minor dings, scratches etc. Nothing dramatic. Overall condition: good.

Playing condition notes: Low action, neck is straight, intonation is good. Recently had a brace re-glued and the saddle shaped by a top-class luthier. Setup with John Pearse 80/20 bronze 12-53 gauge strings. The nice skinny neck, low action, light body all combine nicely into a easy-playing, big sounding dreadnought.
