(SOLD) Used Squier Stratocaster MIJ 1983 JV Serial Black
Used Fender Squier JV serial Strat, made in Japan in 1983. A little piece of history! JV serial guitars were the first instruments Fender ever manufactured in Japan, made in 1982-83 at the legendary FujiGen Gakki plant. Late CBS-era (late 70s-early 80s) USA made Fender instruments had become notoriously inconsistent in quality, and the first arrivals from Fender Japan were met with great joy and amazement: this was how they were meant to be made. This particular example is one of the more basic SST-30 models, which often fetch $800USD+ the world these days as they become increasingly rare. The black finish has held up nicely over the decades, it's looking very tidy for a 34 year old guitar. The guard has been changed more than once, and it's possible the neck pickup is non-original too; this is all reflected in the price. The neck is stunning: it'd perfectly balanced and shaped, the fretwork is spot-on and it's hard to imagine a Strat neck feeling better than this. The guitar basically plays itself, and as such, it sounds great! This is a very safe investment: the fanfare around JV guitars isn't going away, and they're certainly not becoming more common as the years wear on. Grab your new family heirloom now.

Cosmetic condition notes: Mild finish wear. There's some scratches, dimples and dings around the body, neck and headstock, but nothing very big or significant. The guard has some very minor play-wear and is non-original. Stamped saddle bridge and other chrome parts have aged nicely with some cool discolouration but no serious corrosion. Overall: good condition.
Playing condition notes: Action is very low, neck is straight, intonation is good. All electrics tested and working properly. The neck really is exceptional, it feels amazing in the hand. Setup with fresh 10/46s and ready to roll.
