(SOLD) WellWood Custom P-Style Bass Inca Silver 2016
WellWood bass, made in Hobart Australia 2016, inca silver. WellWood is the project of local luthier Ed Moase. Ed has been building guitars and basses to order for years and specialises in blending classic styling with modern electronics, plus he loves a good pearl or metallic finish. This one is wearing a thin coat of tasty pearl silver, with the grain of the Vic ash showing through... tasty stuff. The body is pretty heavy, but it comes with a heap of tone: bright, grindy and spanky with a full, punchy attack and a thick low end. The active preamp has a mid boost/cut and sweep, so you can dial in a heap of different tonal variation if you're a serial tinkerer. The neck is modelled on the original '51 Precision, so it's a big, chunky affair, which lends itself to an understated playing style and adds a certain presence to the top end. This is anything but boring: it sounds huge and looks quirky-but-classic; locals for the win!

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has some minor dimples on the end. Neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor marks only. The back has a couple of dimples on the top horn and a couple of very light scuffs near the ferrules, nothing nasty. The sides have a couple of light dimples near the knobs, nothing major. The front is pretty clean, just some dimples near the knobs and some play wear on the guard and top horn. Overall: excellent condition (9/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets look excellent, very minor wear only, 9/10 for fret life left. Set up with fresh 45/105s.
