Yamaha PB400RA bass, made in Japan 1985, white. Vintage Japanese made Yamaha stuff is exceptionally well made and full of mojo, and this is a perfect example. This is an evolution of the late 70s 'Pulser Bass', hence the model number. It's got the ash body and spiral saddle bridge you only usually see on the higher end Fenders. The build quality is excellent: the neck and frets are perfect, it all fits together nicely, everything feels spot-on. The creamy white finish extends all the way up the neck and on the headstock, adding a little twist to the aesthetic and a bit of extra resistance to wear and tear. Yamaha generally make their own pickups, and the split-P style in this stomps in all the right ways: thick, dynamically responsive, warm mids.. it's very good. This will hold it's own effortlessly against much more expensive basses, it's a super reliable gig-machine.

Model: Yamaha Pulser Bass PB-400RA
Made: Japan, 1985 (best estimate, serial LZQN036)
Finish: white (CW), 3-ply black guard
Body: sen ash
Neck: maple with rosewood board, dot inlays
Mods: none
Pickup: original Yamaha P-style split-single coil
Case: none

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. There's some long shallow scratches and a ding on the back and a couple of minor marks around the front of the body. It's aging nicely really, the finish has yellowed with age but it's all very tidy. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some minor wear, around 8/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 45/105s, plays great!
