Yamaha SG510 Candy Tone Red 1984

Yamaha SG510, candy red, made in Japan 1984. The SG series took this form in the 70s, borrowing some elements from the Les Paul but pushing things in a more ergonomically friendly and tonally balanced direction. This one is pretty classically: black and red and ready to go. It feels awesome in the hands, with a lightweight resonant body and a slim, fast neck. The pickups have been replaced with some Dr Gas examples from UK, and they sound great. They're in the overwound-PAF genre, so the neck is thick and punchy with a generous shimmer on top and the bridge is all kick and cream with bristling overtones. I guess you could say it's versatile. but it feels so at home playing big obnoxious rock stuff that it would be a shame to do anything else with it in my books. More vintage Yamaha goodness... always good.
