Yamaha SGV300, gloss yellow, made in Taiwan 2001. These Flying Samurai guitars are so cool, I'm such a fan. This one is one of the Taiwan-made reissues from the early 00s, which are always really nicely put together and benefit from some improved modern hardware and electronics. It's a great player: the neck is slim, straight and comfy, the body is lightweight, it's well balanced and surprisingly ergonomic... it's just fun in the hands. The clever blend control allows the pickups to behave like three single coils or a pair of humbuckers, so there's heaps of options on offer. The tone is somewhere between the punchy, plucky chime of a Mustang and the growly shimmering voice of a Tele Deluxe. This one has had a headstock repair and is priced accordingly, so see the notes below. Now, that gorgeous yellow: banana yellow, custard, lemon curd, cheddar... so many delicious possibilities.

Model: Yamaha SGV300
Made: 2001, Taiwan (serial HI05178)
Finish: banana yellow, gloss poly
Body: alder
Neck: maple with rosewood board, 24.75" scale, 12" radius
Mods: headstock repaired
Weight: 3.635kg
Pickups: Yamaha single coils x3
Case: none, note that the trem arm is also not included

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has a repaired break, so there's a crack visible from the treble side of the nut to the D-string tuner. It's structurally sound and not moving around, but the finish touch-up on the front is a bit rough if you look up close. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has some scuffs along the back edge, belly carve and near the cavities. The sides have some dimples in the elbow area and near the jack. The front is pretty clean, just some scuffs on the back edge, behind the bridge and in the elbow area and some play wear on the guard and top horn. (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets have some normal wear, there's no major buzz issues 7/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 11-49 Moonshiners strings.
