Yamaha SS-300 Bright Red 1983
Yamaha SS-300, bright red, made in Japan 1983. In the early 80s, Yamaha were doing a cool Strat-ish line called the Super Combinator, which used this body shape and came in a couple of pickup configurations. This, is almost that, but mixed with a few elements of the earlier Flying Samurai line, like the hockey-stick headstock. It's very fun: the body is well balanced, the neck is slim and easy, and it sounds super juicy. The single coils are Strat-ish, but overwound a touch, so it's got heaps of punch and girth to it. The vibrant hue has plenty of personality; paired with the weird guard and quirky curves, it looks cheeky. SS= so sweet.
