(ARCHIVE) Aria Pro II TSB-400 Bass Sunburst 1983
- Description
- Guitarchives
Aria TSB-400, sunburst, made in Japan 1983. This was a later and stripped down version of the perfectly titled Thor Sound series. It's a great sounding bass, the humbuckers dole out a creamy, warm tone with a heap of low end focus and rumble. It's got a tasty maple neck that sits somewhere between a P and J in thickness and feels very cooperative in the hands. The finish has aged gracefully and looks all the better for a few little marks here and there; it's got a certain wonky-vintage charm. If you're after a cool little quirky bass that's very well thought out and beautifully made bass, this one is a fun little friend to have.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has some minor marks on the end and bottom edge. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, there's a ding on the bottom edge around the tenth fret; aside from that it's minor marks on the back only. The back has widespread light scuffs and surface scratches, nothing nasty. The sides have light dimples on both horns and a bunch of scuffs and dimples in the elbow area and near the jack; nothing major though. The front is pretty clean, just some scuffs near the knobs, dimples on the elbow area and light play scuffs on the horns. Overall: good condition (7/10).
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Frets have some minor wear but they're in great shape; 8/10 for fret life left. Set up with fresh 45/105 Moonshiners strings.
