Bacchus BLS-JR, gloss yellow, made in Japan 2019. Bacchus make amazing guitars, with a preference for old world handmade building techniques, fussy wood selection and meticulous attention to detail. This model was a recent but short-lived re-boot of the Classic Series Les Paul Special style, so you get a slab of mahogany with a flat top, a wraparound bridge and a pair of soapbar style single coils. It feels very alive in the hands, with heaps of natural snap and zing from the lightweight body. The neck is nice and comfy and looks awesome with the binding around the dark rosewood board. Plugged in, it's surprisingly bright: there's still a fat, rounded low end, but the expressive sweet treble adds a gorgeous clear outline to all your chords and notes. The yellow finish looks great in the flesh, it glows like a glistening dollop of custard on your apple crumble on a chilly evening. Delightful.
