Bacchus Universe Series BJ1-R J-Style Shell Pink Circa 2010
Bacchus Universe Series BJ1-R jazz bass, shell pink, made in China 2010 approx. The Universe Series is the entry-level offering from one of Japan's favourite bands, Bacchus. These do extremely well in Japan, but no effort is made to market them internationally, so we're all missing out on these great instruments! This one is a tidy, responsive, well made take on the classic Fender Jazz Bass. It's very impressive in the hands; the neck feels super sturdy and quick, the body is resonant and comfy, and the build quality lends it a sense of 'mojo'. Bacchus is famous for making their own pickups, and these deliver heaps of tone: thick, bright, full and warm. The pink finish is charmingly kitsch, it's got a real bubblegum look that's disarmingly appealing. This will compete well with basses at five times the price, it's a great little bass. Did I mention it's pink?
