Bacchus Universe Series BPB-1R P-Style Burnt Orange Metallic 2010
Bacchus Universe Series BPB-1R bass, burnt orange metallic, made in China 2010 approx. The Universe Series is the entry-level offering from one of Japan's favourite bands, Bacchus. These do extremely well in Japan, but no effort is made to market them internationally, so the rest of us just miss out generally. This here is a take on the classic '62 Precision Bass, but with a modern flatter 12" radius board. These previous-generation examples have a nice vintage tinted gloss finish neck, so that feels great in the hands and looks very classy. The stock pickup punches well, so there's heaps of hefty low end punch and growly mids on tap. The finish looks terrific, there's a lovely depth to it and the bright gaudy orange is balanced nicely by the trad white guard and rosewood board. These compete very well with stuff that's a lot pricier, so nab yourself a nasty orange delight. Fanta for your earholes.
