Sure, it can reduce the hum/noise/hiss etc. But, it also has a 'mute' mode, to just turn the signal off altogether. Plan: buy it to use on your bass player. You can bring it to rehearsals and use it to mute the never ending riffiddling of that always-shorts-wearing gronk between songs so the drummer can actually hear you tell him he played the bit wrong again. Life upgraded!
