If you want smooth, warm high gain dirt from a pedal, having real tubes onboard helps. This has a handy clean/crunch on the left, and a filthy, angry, I-hate-my-parents huge distortion on the right. Blackstar's clever ISF control dials from a more Marshall style midrange to a smoother more Mesa-ish tone, so that's handy too. Plus, it's heavy enough to act as a boat anchor in an emergency.
