We've all come across a DS-1 in our time, but how about a very early Japan-made example from 1980? These guys use the old Toshiba preamp that doesn't push quite as hard as later models. The trade-off you get is a warmer and smoother distortion that's really more of an overdrive. The 4 digit serial stamped directly onto the chassis, a long dash in 'DS–1' and the silver screw all make this a pretty collectible Boss Japan piece, and in great order for a 42 year old pedal.
