Brian BLS-480, creamy white, made in Korea circa 1998. It's been too long between Brians, so we're pleased to offer this excellent and perfectly branded LP for your Brian-ing pleasure. The MIJ enthusiasts among us will be familiar with Bacchus, they're one of Japan's great success stories and enjoy a reputation for picky wood selection and excellent workmanship. Brian was one of Bacchus' first experiments with replicating their famed meticulosity offshore; they were made in Korea in the late 1990s. They were midrange instruments in their day, fetching similar cash to a reissue model Fender Japan or a basic Japanese made Ibanez RG. It feels great in the hands: it's moderate in weight with a comfy rounded slim neck, and all the fret and finish work is really tidy. It's got a certain integrity in the hands you don't often get on a guitar for this dime. The tone on offer is dark and warm, with a rounded but prominent midrange and a weighty low end. I'm moderately confident this was white at birth, but it's a glorious shade of buttery swiss cheese yellow now. It's a terrific hue, summery and cheeky while maintaining a decent dash of dignity. Use you brain and Brian up your life.
