Burny FB-80Z Firebird Style Cardinal Red 1990

Burny FB-80Z, made in Japan 1990, cardinal red. This is supremely cool. Burny was a sub-brand of Fernandes, one of Japan's longest running and most successful guitar makers, mostly producing Gibson-style instruments from the late 70s til the mid 90s. This particular beauty is a quirky little signature model; Matsuo Sounin played guitar for the then-massive J-rock outfit ZIGGY and this was his model. It's a pretty classic take on the Firbid V, but with three full size humbuckers, a bolt on neck, a brass nut, banjo style tuners and a striking red finish. It's superbly made; the neck is a delight in the hands and the body rings very truly. Plugged in, the three HBs deliver a raucous and crispy tone with a heap of attack and a sweet singing midrange. It's nicely balanced in the hands and loud and enthusiastic unplugged. If you don't like it, maybe seek some professional help?

The back has some minor chips on the bottom horn, shoulder and back edge, as well as a dent in the middle up from the cavity cover and some light scuffs. The sides have a few marks: an extra hole and some dimples on the top horn, scuffs and small dents on the shoulder, scuffs along the back edge, a couple of small chips near the knobs and dimples on the bottom horn. The front is pretty clean, just a dent on the edge near the jack, light scuffs on the shoulder and some play wear on the guard and to horn. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal wear but look pretty good, 7/10 for fret life left. No headstock breaks. Wearing fresh 11-49s Moonshiners strings.
