Burny Swanky Spider PEB-65, pale pink, made in Taiwan 2008. These Swanky Spider models are such cool instruments, it's a bit mysterious exactly how they came to exist, but whatever happened: I'm a fan. This is the EB/SG bass model from the series, so it's a short-scale take on the classic Gibson shape. Being lightweight and a 30.3" scale, it's super easy to move around on and basically plays itself. The neck is moderately slim without being too skinny and the slimline lightweight body make this a very easy bass to sit with, especially if you're of smaller stature. The tone is super fun: thick and warm on the neck pickup, creamy and angry on the bridge pickup... or combine them both for a tasty yin-and-yang balance of grit and thump. With a generous dose of gain, this will sit perfectly in a mix for your stoner doom, psych rock or garage punk kinda stuff, it's got that tasty roundness to it. The combo of pink, pearloid and skulls is either horrendously kitsch or adorably cute, you decide! Either way, this one is hard to ignore and a whole lot of fun.

Model: Burny Swanky Spider PRB-60
Made: Taiwan, 2008 (serial FG08061126)
Finish: pale pink, 2-ply cream guard
Body: alder
Neck: maple with rosewood board, 30.3" scale, 15.75" radius, C shape
Weight: 3.735kg
Mods: none
Pickups: Fernandes EB-1 and EB-2

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. Headstock has some minor scuffs on the end. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. There's some finish missing where the neck joins the headstock on the edges of the board, it seems to be common for these models and is a cosmetic issue only. The back has widespread very light scuffs, no major marks. The sides are pretty clean save for a couple of tiny dimples on the bottom side around from the knobs and on the bottom horn and a chip near the jack. The front has a few dimples near the knobs, a sticker fade mark in the elbow area and some play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: very good condition (8/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, both truss rods work. Frets look great, 9/10 for fret life left. No headstock breaks. Electronics all tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 45/105 Moonshiners strings.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
