Chapman ML2, made in China in 2010, with Floyd Rose and Dimarzios. This guitar is numbered '006', it's part of the first run of 250 original ML2s out of China. Rob Chapman is an innovative UK designer, and this is one of the earliest production examples of his work. The shape is similar to a Les Paul, but with some deep contours to lighten the solid mahogany and increase playing comfort. It's intuitive in the hands: solid, fast neck, light and well balanced, easy access to upper frets. These guitars were designed as a platform for modding, and this one hasn't escaped the urge: it's got a sweet pair of passive Dimarzios and has been routed for Floyd Rose bridge. The bridge lends the guitar a heap of sustain and stability, makes a lot of sense feel-wise and opens up a whole lot of sonic possibilities. The switching allows each pickup to be split to a single coil, as well as running the coils in series or parallel; handy little options. Unique, rare, sonically rich and understatedly beautiful... great guitar!
